ANNUAL FUND CHALLENGE APPEAL December, 2018 Dear Friends: For 50 years, Adventures in Learning has provided after-school programs for the underserved children in our Manhasset community by offering a safe environment in which their academic performance and life skills can be developed and supported. Virtually all of our 70 public school children have one or two working parents, yet 90% of them live at or below the poverty line. Without Adventures, many of these elementary school children would return from school to empty homes with no one to help with their homework. Adventures provides academic and enrichment programs together with a caring and safe environment, producing dramatic results: • Over 75% of our students graduate from high school and 90% of those go on to college • Reading improvement – 6 month to 2 year increase • Increased math proficiency on all grade levels • Summer camp scholarships offered to 95 students We are writing to you because we NEED YOUR HELP! While Adventures works in cooperation with the Manhasset Public Schools, we receive NO funding from the District. Our programs are dependent on YOUR contribution. This year, a long-time supporter of Adventures has generously provided an ANNUAL FUND CHALLENGE. They have agreed to match all donations received by midnight on January 31, 2019 up to $100,000 – so your donation will be doubled! Please consider helping Adventures in its critical Annual Fund Appeal by becoming a sponsor at one of the following levels: • Platinum $10,000 – annual fund star contributor • Gold $5,000 – sponsor a child for a full year • Silver $2,500 – support teacher salary for a year • Benefactor $1,000 – support classroom supplies for a year • Friend $500 – support enrichment programs • Donor $10 – $499 – help provide nourishing snacks All gifts, large and small are welcomed and needed. Remember, 100% of your donation is tax deductible, and if you donate by the end of the year, the power of your gift will be doubled! Adventures in Learning is right in our backyard and is a charity where your support will make a significant difference in a deserving child’s life. With many thanks, William C.
